Lunch and Learn: Asha’s Refuge a place of hope

This Thursday Jamie Koch and Deborah Eaton came to the UMNC to talk about the work being done for refuges by Asha’a Refuge in Memphis, TN.  Asha’s Refuge is a non-profit that focuses its work with both recently and not so recently resettled refuges that are or have become a part the poorest members of the Memphis community.  Asha’s Refuge offers very basic education classes for women who have had very limited or no educational training, along with mentorship and American life and culture classes for these women and theri children.  The discuss was interesting for everyone and an understand or better understanding of the existence of this population in Memphis was gained by all participants
