Day 2, page 8 – second prayer

a Prayer for Those in Pain

O God, whose Blessed Son showed such tender love and pity to those who were sick, whether in mind or body; give largely of [Your] Comfort to all those who now lie in pain, or are awaiting an operation; grant them to be brave and patient, and to trust in [You].  then, Lord, in [Your] own good time, do [Lord] give them a happy issue out of all their afflictions.  [Through the will and by the grace of Your Son our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.]

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4 ESV)

In the blog posts under this title we will revisit a collection of prayers published by the BBC* in the 1950’s for use in hospitals, [] denote changes. These prayers included Psalms suggested reading within the text and here we add some Old and New Testament scripture that could also be associated with the prayers.
