A Collection of Prayers for use in Hospitals: Day 2 – for Sincerity

Day 2, page 9 – second prayer

Prayer For Sincerity

Grant to us, O God, this day to do whatever duty lies before us with cheerfulness, and sincerity of heart.  Help us in all things fearlessly to do what we know to be right; save us from hypocrisy and pretense.  Make us truthful, unselfish, and strong.  And so bring us to the ending of the day unashamed, and with a quiet mind.  We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Sincerity

Suggested Old and New Testament verses:

Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, (Titus 2:7 ESV )

For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:17 ESV )

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, (1 Peter 1:22 ESV)

So that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, (Philippians 1:10 ESV )

So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:1-5 ESV )

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (Matthew 28:19 ESV )

For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you. (2 Corinthians 1:12 ESV )

But test everything; hold fast what is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21 ESV )

For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. (John 3:20 ESV )

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (Malachi 3:10 ESV )

For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you. (Philemon 1:7 ESV )

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. (1 Thessalonians 4:16 ESV )

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)

I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (John 17:14 ESV )

Psalms:

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever; … (Psalm 136:1-26 ESV )
