A Collection of Prayers for use in Hospitals: Day 5 – For Work In the Overseas Mission Field

Day 5, page 27 – second prayer
Prayer for Work in the Overseas Mission Field

God of our Fathers, be [Lord] very near to all who teach and preach [Your] Gospel overseas. In their times of difficulty, danger, and loneliness, may they realise [Your] presence. Cheer them in their work, and defend them from all evil. Help us to remember them in our daily prayers.  Bless them, and if it be [Your] will, may they see the harvest from the seed which they are sowing. Give them courage, wisdom, patience, and strength for their work; and may their lives of unselfish service inspire others to follow in their steps, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Suggested Old and New Testament verses:

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

(Romans 8:28 (KJV); К Римлянам 8:28 (RUSV); Roemer 8:28 (LUTH1545))

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

(Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV); От Матфея 11:28-30 (RUSV); Matthaeus 11:28-30 (LUTH1545))

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

(2 Corinthians 6:14 (KJV); 2-е Коринфянам 6:14 (RUSV); 2 Korinther 6:14 (LUTH1545))

10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

(Isaiah 41:10 (KJV); Исаия 41:10 (RUSV); Jesaja 41:10 (LUTH1545))

6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

(Philippians 1:6 (KJV); К Филиппийцам 1:6 (RUSV);Philipper 1:6 (LUTH1545))

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Romans 8:38-39 (KJV); К Римлянам 8:38-39 (RUSV); Roemer 8:38-39 (LUTH1545))

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

(Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV); К Ефесянам 2:8-9 (RUSV); Epheser 2:8-9 (LUTH1545))

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

(Romans 1:16 (KJV); К Римлянам 1:16 (RUSV); Roemer 1:16 (LUTH1545))

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

(Acts 4:12 (KJV); Деяния 4:12 (RUSV); Apostelgeschichte 4:12 (LUTH1545))

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

(John 3:14-16 (KJV); От Иоанна 3:14-16 (RUSV); Johannes 3:14-16 (LUTH1545))

In the blog posts under this title we will revisit a collection of prayers published by the BBC* in the 1950’s for use in hospitals, [] denote changes. These prayers included Psalms suggested reading within the text and here we add some Old and New Testament scripture that could also be associated with the prayers.
