A Collection of Prayers for use in Hospitals: Day 7 – For Our Hospital Staff

Day 7, page 39, First Prayer

For Our Hospital Staff

Heavenly Father, look down from [Your] Throne and hear our prayers for all who work in this Hospital; may all that we do be towards the healing of the sick, and the relief and prevention of pain. Give us [Your] Grace to do cheerfully any work to which [You shall] send us this day. Give us largely of [Your] love and sympathy, and make us unconscious channels of [Your] love. Bless us, that we may be a blessing. We ask this for the sake of [Your] Son, Who came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, the same Jesus Christ, our Lord.  [Amen].

1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV

Romans 8:26 ESV

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Matthew 6:6 ESV

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

Matthew 26:41 ESV

Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

In the blog posts under this title we will revisit a collection of prayers published by the BBC* in the 1950’s for use in hospitals, [] denote changes. These prayers included Psalms suggested reading within the text and here we add some Old and New Testament scripture that could also be associated with the prayers.
